Información de elibron
Victor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov (1848 - 1926). One of the first artists to turn to subjects in Russian folklore, Victor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov was born the son of a village clergyman and began to proceed in his father's ecclesiastical footsteps until his passion and talent for painting brought him to the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts in 1868. He became an active member at the estate of Savva Mamontov, a famous art patron whose circle sought to revive national traditions. Vasnetsov's first commissioned work created decorative panels for a number of famous buildings throughout Moscow, although he worked in a number of other fields throughout his career, principally architectural design. Vasnetsov's search for the genuinely Russian pictorial idiom greatly influenced the development of modernism and symbolism in Russian painting and poetry.
